Ut-pa-la magazine was launched in 2006, with the blessing of His Holiness, the 17th Karmapa. The name, Ut-pa-la, chosen by His Holiness, refers to a lily or lotus flower that rises unstained from the mud, symbolizing purity. Green Tara is depicted holding an Ut-pa-la flower in her hand.
Ut-pa-la is published periodically by KTC-NJ. It features Buddhist teachings and articles related to the study and practice of Dharma. Although the magazine articles are mostly written in Chinese, there are beautiful pictures and occasional articles in English.
